Pampering Men, One Haircut at a Time

Aliso Viejo Town Center's newest hair salon is unlike any other in the city.

It offers the usual — cut, color, manicure, pedicure, and facials — but only to men.

THE MEN'S Hair Salon and Spa, located upstairs from , offers a full-service salon to its male clientele.

As you enter the salon the "men only" theme is apparent — from the life-size cut out of Marilyn Monroe and car portraits on the wall to the stack of men's interest magazines and foosball table.

"I think that men would feel more comfortable coming to a salon for services, such as a manicure, pedicure, facial and hair removal, knowing that it is for men only, and that there will be no women staring at them while having these services," said Christine Perico-Cutts, owner of the salon.

A resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, Perico-Cutts said the high number of young professionals living within the city is what attracted her to Aliso Viejo.

"One of the reasons I decided to have a full service salon and spa that caters only to a male clientele, is due to a need for one here in Aliso Viejo," Perico-Cutts said.

Besides the basic salon services, THE MEN'S Hair Salon and Spa also offers complimentary beverages, snacks and nightly promotions. After 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, a complimentary cigar is given with the purchase of any service.

While business has been slow since the opening, Perico-Cutts is confident that it will increase after the new year and said they already have at least 10 regulars.

"It is all about the personal touch. That's what brings them back," she said. "That is how I want to stand out — by our customer service."
