Oscars of HOA Awards Nominates AVCA President

Ross Chun will be recognized for his "service and dedication" to the Aliso Viejo Community Association.

Ross Chun, the Aliso Viejo Community Association president, has been nominated for the Community Association Board Member of the Year award, presented by Professional Community Management.

The annual Orange County Excellence in Community Awards Gala will take place Feb. 3 at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

Chun, who has been a member of the AVCA board for six years and has served as president four years, was nominated in the veteran category for his long-term run as a member of his association. This is Chun's first nomination.

All nominees are recognized for their service and dedication to the community association industry.

"It's really flattering and I'm honored to be nominated," Chun said. "I'm really excited. It will be a great event with a lot of people from the industry."

Chun said he doesn't believe any AVCA board members have been nominated for this award.

There are 13 nominees, including several from Laguna Woods Village.

“We are honored to see the hard work and accomplishments tied to an innovative vision by our managers and board members here recognized by the Community Associations Institute Orange County Regional Chapter,” said Donny Disbro, Chief Executive Officer at PCM. "Board members are an integral part of our team and their efforts drive the success of our endeavors."

This is a wonderful honor to be recognized by your peers. Ross has contributed in so many ways over the years maintaining the community parks with his oversight and dedication to financial responsibility with integrity.

We seem to forget not so long ago how AVCA had lost millions of dollars and control of the charter its supposed to follow.

Congratulations for all your hours of contribution to Aliso Viejo.

I'm new to "blogging," so please be kind. I also want to keep it positive because I think it's only right. I'm glad to see local government folks receive recognition for the good they do. Mr. Chun seems dedicated to the community and I'm happy to see that he still takes time to walk his kids to school. I'm looking forward to the dog park. Nice Job!
