Six Scholarships Awarded to Local Teens By Capistrano Coast National Charity League

The Capistrano Coast Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., (NCL) has awarded scholarships totaling $5000.00 to six graduating seniors from four local south county high schools who stood out in demonstrating leadership, academic excellence and a commitment to community service throughout their high school careers.

The chapter reviewed many applications for the scholarships from students that attend high schools represented by the members of the Capistrano Coast chapter senior class. The applicants received points based on the following guidelines:  community service, financial need, GPA, SAT or ACT scores, and additional responsibilities such as employment and extracurricular activities.  The recipients may not be a member of the NCL chapter.  All applicants were rated individually based on these guidelines and then confidentially ranked by points received from highest to lowest by the scholarship committee.

The six 2014 NCL scholarship recipients are from:

We expect great things from them, including supporting their communities after they graduate,” said Kerry Bowers, the NCL scholarship committee chair.
