Brrr ... a Cold, Wet Weekend Ahead

A low-pressure system is expected to arrive in Orange County tomorrow night, bringing periods of heavy rain. Aliso Viejo is expected to hit a low of 38 degrees Saturday evening.

The rain that was predicted to fall Saturday morning will now arrive Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold, low-pressure system hovering above Seattle will move into Southern California on Friday after 4 p.m. and linger into Saturday night.

The storm will dump as much as 1.25 inches of rain in Orange County's coastal areas.

The cold, low pressure system "is expected to bring period of heavy precipitation Friday night through Saturday, along with gusty winds and very cool temperatures with very low snow levels," weather service meteorologists report.

The high temperature in Aliso Viejo on Saturday is expected to reach only 48 degrees. The low is predicted at an even more chilling 38 degrees.

 Thunderstorms are possible Saturday, while winds will gust up to 25 mph.

The weather service cautions that snow levels may drop lower than 2,000 feet, making dangerous conditions for unprepared campers and hikers. Between 6-12 inches of snow is possible above 3,500 feet.
