Grab 'n' Go Kids Planner: Stargazing at the Library

FAMILY SUN DAY FUN  DAY
Where/When:  Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, 18751 Laguna Canyon Rd., Laguna Beach.  Sunday, June 5, 3 to 5 p.m.
Why go:  The whole family can enjoy nature activities and games on a one-mile round trip hike with some steep terrain.  Wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and hats.  Bring water.
Pricing:  $2 donation per person.  $3 per vehicle for parking. 

KIDS FISHING CLINIC
Where/When:  Dana Wharf, 34675 Golden Lantern, Dana Point.  Meets Sundays noon-12:30 p.m.
Why go:  Kids can learn the basics of casting, knot tying, hooking bait and more.  Then depart on half day fishing trip that departs at 12:45 p.m.
Pricing:  Clinic and fishing  trip are free for kids 14 and under (rental gear included.) Adult half day fishing trip is $44.

PANNING FOR GOLD
Where/When:  Mission San Juan Capistrano, 26801 Ortega Hwy., San Juan Capistrano.  Every Saturday, noon-2 p.m. 
Why go:  Children can roll up their sleeves and try their luck at panning their way to riches.  Pan and “gold” provided.
Pricing:  Free with paid Mission admission.  Adults, $9; Seniors, $8;  Children ages 4-11, $5;  Ages 3 and under free.

PORTABLE PLANETARIUM
Where/When:  Aliso Viejo Public Library, 1 Journey, Aliso Viejo.  Wednesday, June 1, 3:30-4:30 p.m. for Kindergarten through third grade and 4:30-5:30 p.m. for fourth through sixth grade. 
Why go:  Children can enter the planetarium  to see stars, constellations and galaxies complemented by lasers, music and slides in an educational astronomy program.  Registration required. Call 949-360-1730 or stop by the children’s desk to register.  Space is limited.
