Registration for Flying Fish Swim Team Begins April 30

The Aliso Viejo Aquatic and Conference Center holds an open house, announcing upcoming events.

Aliso Viejo's Conference and Aquatic Center held an open house Tuesday, showcasing the features of the aquatic center to residents.

"The conference center can accommodate up to 250 with a DJ and a dance floor and up to 300 without the DJ and dance floor. The facility can also be cut into thirds according to the events needs. We also have drop-down projects and screens, too," said Kelli Addington, general manager of the two facilities. "The aquatic center will be open on April 30 and is available to all residents of Aliso Viejo. We'll also have a swim team here—the Aliso Viejo Flying Fish."

The conference center can host a variety of events—from weddings with receptions to smaller conferences.

A tour of the aquatic center was provided during the open house and showcased the different pools and spas. Pools include a junior-sized "Olympic" pool and a toddler pool, which is padded with sponges on the ground for safety. Younger kids can enjoy playing in the water jets that spray into the air. The facility also includes a spa for relaxing.

Registration begins on April 30 for the spring and summer sessions of the aquatic center's new swim team, the Flying Fish.

"The age group we'll be working with [children ages 4 and up] is great to work with," said Dave Stock, coach of the Flying Fish. "I've been a swim coach for 18 years. Our focus here is to introduce each swimmer to competitions. We use positive reinforcement to teach them the strokes and to really love the water."

Aliso Viejo's Flying Fish will face off against eight rivals in the Beach City Swim League.
