So You Think You Can Dance And Sing?

If you think you can dance—or dance and sing—one of Orange County’s premiere children’s theater groups specializing in musical productions is looking for you.

The Center Stage Studio of Aliso Viejo will be holding open auditions for boys and girls ages 6-18 over the next two Saturdays at its location at 27101 Aliso Creek Road, Suite 136.

The audition this Saturday and on Aug. 25 will begin at 9 a.m. All girls and boys will be placed on a team. The CSS Dance and Song Teams are nationally ranked.

To look the part, CSS owner Tracey DiMiceli suggests that candidates come to the audition wearing dance clothes, jazz shoes and a leotard, and girl’s hair should be done in an eye-line bun. Also, they should bring a snapshot or headshot for the judges.

For Dance Team auditions, candidates should be prepared to learn a combination of moves. For Dance Team & Song auditions, candidates should prepare a one-minute monologue, 16 bars of song with CD (no vocals), and be prepared to dance.

In addition, the top two male dancers or singers will receive a free year of conservatory training. Winners will be announced on the studio’s website Tuesday, Aug. 28, along with the results of the teams.
