Siri Can Now Buy Movie Tickets

A new Fandango app enables some iPhone users to have Apple's virtual concierge order film tickets.

You still have to buy the popcorn yourself, but a new Fandango movie app enables iPhone and iPad users to purchase movie tickets through Siri, Apple's interactive personal assistant.

The Siri feature is available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.1, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system.

Users can ask Siri to find a specific movie, nearby theaters or desired showtimes. Siri then offers the option to "Buy Tickets" and launches the Fandango app for customers to complete the purchase.

Moviegoers can also add their Paperless Mobile Tickets to Passbook, which lets them scan their iPhone or iPod touch to get into the movie at select theaters.

Mobile ticket sales account for more than 30 percent of overall Fandango ticket sales, according to company officials.
