Your Aliso Viejo Library Guide for August 2013

Summer is a busy time of year for the Aliso Viejo Library at 1 Journey. Kids are out of school and lots of adults are looking for beach reads, too.

On Wednesday, the library released its August schedule of events. To help guide you through the schedule, Patch presents the following summary:

Special Events

  • The Arty Loon Magic Show: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 3:30 p.m. This event promises "hilarious antics, balloons, magic, juggling and puppetry."
  • Family Games and Lego Night: Thursday, Aug. 15 from 6-8 p.m.
  • Buster Balloon: Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 3:30 p.m. Balloon fun!
  • Read to a dog: Saturday, Aug. 17, 1-3 p.m. Buddy the cocker spaniel would love to be read a story. Children 5 and up are encouraged to read to him in a stress-free environment.

Ongoing Events

  • Family Matinee showing of James and the Giant Peach: Saturday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.
  • The TAB teen book club meets Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 3-4 p.m. Teens meet once a month to help plan teen events, decorate the library’s teen area and help choose teen books
  • Preschool Storytime: Tuesdays throughout August at 1:15 p.m. What to expect? "Activities, books, rhymes and songs intended for children ages 3 ½ to six years who are able to attend on their own."
  • Family Storytime: Thursdays throughout August at 11 a.m. All ages welcome.
  • NOTE: Toddler Storytime is postponed until September.
  • The Minecraft Club meets Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon. Ages 9 and up are invited to play in this 3-D world. Device required.
