Aliso Viejo Homes Worth $250 Million More This Year

By Penny Arévalo and Pete Schelden

Aliso Viejo homes are worth 3.28 percent more this year on average, according to the Orange County Assessor's Office.

The city's nearly 16,000 homes are worth $249,411,867 more in 2013, according to county estimates.

In total, Aliso real estate is worth $7.86 billion, the official estimate says.

Aliso's home values rose slightly ahead of the county average of 3.36 percent and the statewide average of 2 percent, according to the assessor's office report released earlier this month.

The county’s “Assessment Roll of Values” reflects property values as of Jan.  1 and includes both secured property, such as homes, and unsecured property, such as boats, aircraft and other personal property.

“Moving into 2013, however, there are many more areas in the county showing significant recovery in market value and these changes will show up on next year’s rolls,” according to an assessor’s office press release.

Between Orange County's 34 cities, Aliso Viejo placed 15th in terms of the percent its homes increased in value over last year. Topping that list were Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Villa Park. Aliso home values grew slightly more than Dana Point, but not quite as much as San Juan Capistrano.
