Lillian Kuo Joins Shea Properties as SVP of Asset Management

The MIT and Harvard University grad will focus on long-term strategic goals for the Aliso Viejo-based property management company.

Shea Properties recently announced that veteran real estate executive Lillian Kuo has joined the company as senior vice president of asset management, according to Bryan McGowan, Shea’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

“Under Lillian’s leadership, the Commercial Management Group will continue to be focused on our long-term strategic goals, which include maximizing the performance of our assets, diversifying our portfolio risk, and enhancing our operational efficiencies,” McGowan said.

Kuo previously worked at Broadreach Capital Partners, where she had asset management responsibility for the Southern California and Arizona regions, which includes office, retail and research & development properties. In that role, she managed more than 3 million square feet of office, retail and industrial buildings valued at over $1 billion.

Prior to joining Broadreach in 2005, Lillian was part of the asset management team at CommonWealth Partners LLC, overseeing the company’s $750-million portfolio of commercial properties. She also has worked as a consultant with global business consulting firm Bain & Co., advising clients on competitive strategy, marketing and branding, growth strategy and organizational structure.

Kuo received a bachelor’s degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.­

Aliso Viejo-based Shea Properties currently owns and operates about 6,000 apartment units and 6 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space in California, Colorado and Arizona worth more than $2.25 billion.
