It's Getting Hot, Hot, Hot This Week

Temperatures as high as 100 degrees will heat up Orange County inland areas.

Weather fit for shorts returns this week to Orange County along with light Santa Ana winds and clear skies.

Temperatures will peak in the mid-90s Tuesday through Thursday, with 100 degrees forecast for inland areas. The strongest winds will gust between 25 and 30 mph, blowing clouds out of the area, according to the National Weather Service.

In Aliso Viejo, the high on Tuesday will be 80 degrees, followed by 89 degrees on Wednesday and 87 degrees Thursday. Winds will blow between 5 and 10 mph on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Still, there will be patchy morning fog along the coast.

The high-pressure system bringing the hot weather to the Southland will weaken Friday, allowing the area to cool back to normal. Mountains and deserts, however, will remain quite warm, Weather Service forecasters said.

Clouds will return, as will increasingly gusty winds, but little to no precipitation.
