Elks Lodge Holds Memorial Service for 17 Departed Members

Members, families and friends attended the Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 (“Elks Lodge”) memorial service to remember this year’s seventeen (17) departed members. The solemn service was conducted by Lodge President Jason Spence and his corps of officers. Boy Scouts of Troop #603 posted colors and past president Gloria LeCouvre gave the opening prayer. Elks Lodge vice presidents Derek Randles, Camacho Alvarez and David McLeod paid tribute to the absent members with symbols of brotherly love, justice and charity. Chimes rang out and seventeen candles were lit as lodge Secretary Richard Heimann read the names of the departed members. Elks Lodge member Ray Mallen played taps and Elks Lodge Organist Andy Costello plated organ solos. The service closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Following the service, remembrances were shared and refreshments served.

The Mission Viejo / Saddleback Elks Lodge No. 2444, celebrating forty-three (43) years of service to the Saddleback Valley communities, is one of ten lodges in the Orange Coast District of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) whose headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois. The BPOE is a charitable organization with a 145 year history of giving, “Elks are Never Forgotten, Never Forsaken.”
