Disabled Aliso Viejo Boy Dies on Bus

No foul play or negligence suspected in death of 3-year-old Kevin Cisler, authorities say. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

A developmentally disabled 3-year-old boy died Friday after being found unconscious on a school bus in Aliso Viejo, but no foul play was suspected, authorities said.

The child was identified as Kevin Cisler of Aliso Viejo, according to the county coroner's office.

The death was reported about 3 p.m. Friday on Seven Kings Place.

The boy was found slumped over in his wheelchair by the mother of another disabled youngster after she boarded the Capistrano Unified School District bus to get her own child, according to sheriff's homicide Inspector Dan Salcedo.

The mother asked the driver to call 9-1-1 and then she and the driver began resuscitation efforts, Salcedo said. When paramedics arrived, the boy was taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, where he was later
pronounced dead.

No foul play or criminal activity is suspected, Salcedo said.

"The family was notified and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday,'' he added. The boy was attending a Dana Point special needs school.

"We'll have a better idea of what happened after the autopsy, but we
may still need to wait for toxicological test results if the autopsy can't
provide a conclusive cause of death,'' Salcedo said.
