UPDATED: Car Crashes into Home, Kills Coto Man

A 22-year-old man was killed as his car struck a curb, went airborne, crashed into a house and came to rest atop a masonry wall in southern Orange County.

A crane was used to move the car so coroners could remove the body of Franz Nalezny, as his family members watched, according to the Coroner's Office and witnesses.

He was a Cal State Fullerton resident who lived in a nearby house in the same subdivision in Coto de Caza.

The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Cherry Hill Drive and Vista Del Verde, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.

Nalezny was trapped and died inside the wreckage as it was perched atop a masonry wall, Concialdi said. He estimated the vehicle, a Mazda S hatchback, had been airborne for 40-50 feet before it struck the house.

Three residents inside the house, a mother, her 6-year-old son, and her 3-year-old daughter, were not harmed, Concialdi said.

A heavy-duty towing crane was used to remove the vehicle from atop the wall, at 11 p.m. Concialdi said. The victim was still inside, he said.

A videographer said Nalezny's family members were also at the scene.
