Updated: Police Seek Man in Stabbing Death of 23-Year-old Woman

Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding Derek Pinski, who is wanted for questioning related to the stabbing death of a 23-year-old woman in Laguna Hills today.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators are asking for help finding a “person of interest” in a case involving the stabbing death of a 23-year-old woman in Laguna Hills today.

Around 10 a.m., the sheriff’s department and the Orange County Fire Authority were called to a home on the 22200 block of Caminito Tasquillo in Laguna Hills.

They found a homeowner giving CPR to a woman, but she was pronounced dead on the scene, said Orange County Sheriff's Capt. Steve Doan.

``The victim was stabbed an unknown amount of times and died at the scene,'' he said. ``Investigators have not released the name of the victim or any other information about her relationship to Pinski pending notification of next of kin,'' he said.

"As part of the investigation, we have learned that an individual was at the scene," the department wrote in a written statement. "Derek Pinski, is a male Caucasian, about 25 years old, 6’ 3” tall, thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. If anyone were to see Mr. Pinski or the vehicle described above, we ask them to call 911 so the nearest law enforcement agency can respond. Mr. Pinski is a person of interest. We believe Mr. Pinski has the answers to questions surrounding this investigation."

 Pinski was home when the incident occurred but fled the scene shortly after , said Doan.

Investigators believe he is driving a 1999 black Honda Accord four door, California license plate 4EWY810.

Pinski may be driving a black four-door Honda Accord with the license plate: 4EWY810.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
