Annual Community Cup Raises $50,565 for Boys and Girls Club

The donated money will benefit after-school programs at the Aliso Viejo's branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley.

The eighth annual Community Cup, held June 3 at the Aliso Viejo Country Club, raised $50,565 for the Aliso Viejo Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley.

Funds collected during the community golf tournament will be earmarked for the club's after-school programs at the Iglesia Park Community Center. 

During the tournament, hosted by the Aliso Viejo Community Foundation, 122 golfers competed for the honor of having their names engraved on the first-place, grand Perpetual Trophy. Independence Bank team took the title this year. The trophy will be displayed in City Hall for throughout the year.

Robert Bunyan, president of the Community Foundation, will present the $50,565 check to the city during Wednesday's City Council meeting.

The City Council meets the first and third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
