Candidates Prepare for Upcoming AVCA Election

The June 20 election will fill two of the five seats for the Aliso Viejo Community Association board of directors.

Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. the Delegates Network held a candidate's forum at the Aliso Viejo Library. This meeting gave delegates from the an opportunity to meet and hear from two of the candidates running for seats on the AVCA Board of Directors.

Ray De Leon, former AVCA president and Jim Martin, current AVCA secretary, responded to delegate questions on a wide range of topics, including the budget, the economy's impact on the association and projects such as the proposed Savannah's Organic Ranch. Erik Sund, former AVCA president and current vice president, could not attend due to a conflict with his work schedule. He prepared a statement to the delegates, which Ray De Leon read at the opening of the forum. Candidate Esmail Ghane did not attend.

Each year, AVCA delegates meet to elect board members to serve a two year term. The terms of the directors are staggered, so this month's election will determine directors for two of the five total seats on the board. That meeting will take place on June 20 in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
