City Council Begins Review of 2012-13 Budget

Also up for discussion at tonight's meeting (7 p.m.) is a state-local program for road rehab, adding councilmembers to the Boys and Girls Club, and an animal welfare ordinance.

The Aliso Viejo City Council will be receiving a draft of the annual budget for fiscal year 2012-13 and discussing the proposed Aliso Creek Road Rehabilitation--Enterprise to Pacific Park Project at its monthly meeting tonight, 7:00 at City Hall.

The city council will be reviewing the upcoming annual budget, the strategic initiatives, and the report on Electronic Agenda Viewing and Utilization of iPads as part of its preparation for the next fiscal year.

The city council also is expected to adopt a resolution for the authorization of an application for funds under the State-Local Partnership Program Grant under Proposition 1B, the Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality, and Port Security Bond Act of 2006.

The capital improvement project, which is part of the city's five-year strategic plan, would include full-depth replacement of failed areas, grinding and asphalt overlay for Aliso Creek Road between Enterprise and Pacific Park.

Also up for discussion by the council will be the appointment of two councilmembers to the Boys and Girls Club ad hoc committee, an amendment to the street and storm drain maintenance agreement, and an animal welfare ordinance to prohibit the retail sale of dogs and cats in commercial businesses.

Special presentations will be made to Cruz Alday, an investigator for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, and Greg Howit, a retiring teacher at Don Juan Avila Middle School. AYSO Region 889 will be recognized for their fundraising efforts relating to the Foxborough Park Lighting and Restroom Project.
