Coalition Pushes OC Residents to Lobby to Keep Angels in Anaheim

KeeptheAngels.com is encouraging baseball fans to lobby Anaheim officials to keep the team in Orange County. A workshop on the team's future is set for Thursday.

A coalition of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim fans and area business owners are encouraging Orange County residents to attend a public workshop in which the team’s future in the area will be discussed.

KeeptheAngels.com is promoting the workshop, scheduled for 6 p.m. Jan. 30. Anaheim City Council members voted to hold these public workshops in order to get public input regarding the ongoing negotiations between the City and the Angels’ ownership.

The workshop will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena, 800 West Katella Ave. in Anaheim. Complimentary parking will be offered at the Katella Ave. entrance to anyone attending the meeting.

The meeting intends to offer information and an opportunity for the community to pose questions and offer input, city officials said.

  • An outline of why negotiations are taking place
  • A discussion on the mutual goals of the City and Angels Baseball
  • A discussion on the Major League Baseball marketplace
  • Angels Baseball benefits to the City and community
  • A discussion on the current lease agreement
  • An outline of the negotiation framework and process

Development opportunities available within the stadium district

Updates on the negotiation process will also be presented to the public at every third regularly scheduled City Council meeting. The city encourage anyone unable to attend the workshop to submit comments by email baseball@anaheim.net or by phone at (714) 765-5000

“It is extremely important residents and fans show up to these workshops, stand up at the mic and speak in support of our Angels staying in Anaheim,” KeeptheAngels.com members wrote on a Facebook announcement. “We need to remind City leaders about the tremendous benefit Angels Baseball has meant for our community.”
