Students Receive the 'Gift of History'

More than 500 Aliso Viejo students learn local history.

Hundreds of third grade students flocked to the Aliso Viejo Conference Center on Friday for a presentation on local history.

Before an enthusiastic crowd, Councilman Phil Tsunoda led the "Gift of History" program that highlighted the book Nothing Rhymes with Orange. The fun, fact-filled, illustrated third grade publication covers the history of Orange County and includes a special section on Aliso Viejo. In keeping with Tsunoda's 2010 "Year of the Youth" theme and the city's commitment to support local youth, the program included third graders from all four elementary schools in town.  Mayor Carmen Cave and Councilman Bill Phillips also took part in the fun.

Local businesses, the Orange County Fire Authority, Orange County Sheriff's Department and city representatives were on hand with activities and giveaways in support of the history book and the commemoration of the city's 10-year Anniversary.
