Local Voices: 'Think Like a Man'

"Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man" is a book written by Steve Harvey. This book was recently made into a comedy movie called "Think Like a Man," which was released in theaters on April 20.

"Think Like a Man" and has been No. 1 at the box office for two consecutive weekends and has brought in a total of $60.9 million according to distributor Sony Pictures.

The title in itself is catchy, making people wonder what the movie is all about. The overall plot is very simple and fun. The women in the movie begin living their love lives by Steve Harvey’s book. They follow everything step by step in order to achieve a successful outcome, or in other words a healthy relationship. The script intertwines five very different love stories which are all being meticulously put on the path of this book by the leading ladies. According to the women, everything is going smoothly with their men, just the way they would like it to until the truth is revealed.

Halfway through the movie, the men discover that the women they are involved with have been religiously following every instruction in this book. They are furious and feel like they have been manipulated so they decide to turn the tables. This is when things get even more entertaining.

Without giving more of the story away, it goes to say that the audience is loving this movie. It’s a universal story that will appeal to adults and even teenagers. We get to see the sides of both men and women and their polar opposite approaches to relationships. The actors in the movie play their parts well, bringing out some very loud laughs from the audience. Kevin Hart is the highlight of the movie and consistently cracks up the audience in each and every one of his scenes.

"Think Like a Man" is a light and enjoyable film. If you feel like going for a good laugh with some friends or even with a date, definitely check this movie out.
