Aliso Lacrosse Dominates San Juan

Aliso Niguel men's lacrosse snaps losing streak with a 19-3 win over the Stallions.

Aliso Niguel men’s lacrosse snapped a three game losing streak with a blowout win over the San Juan Hills Stallions Thursday night at San Juan Hills High.

The Wolverines came out firing and never let up.  They controlled the ball for the vast majority of the first quarter and got a lot of shots off.  Aliso put in six goals in the first quarter, three of them from senior attackman Nolan Werner.  A big reason for the Wolverines controlling the ball a lot in the first was the six ground balls by sophomore Connor Reed.

The rout did not stop in the second quarter.  Aliso put up another four goals and racked up many ground balls.  Werner added two assists to his stat line in the second quarter and junior attackman Michael Traub put in three goals.  Aliso took advantage of the Stallions’ bad clears.  Werner and Ryan Lawler each intercepted bad passes and scored in the second quarter.

San Juan Hills midfielder Jackson Davis had five first half ground balls and two goals.  Stallion goalie James Garwood had nine first half saves and the Wolverines went into halftime with a 10-3 lead.

The Wolverines began to clear the bench in the second half.  Coach Pat Jenkins managed to get everybody on the team significant playing time.  Aliso put up another five goals in the third quarter.  Two of those goals came from senior midfielder Sammy Nabahani.  The Wolverines managed to run out the clock in the fourth quarter and finish the game with a 19-3 victory.
