Aliso Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Disappointing Loss

Aliso Niguel Men’s Varsity Lacrosse suffered a blowout loss at the hands of the Capo Valley Cougars on Thursday at Cougar Stadium. 

Despite Aliso’s solid record away from Wolverine Stadium, they could not find a way to slow down Capo Valley.  The first quarter was sloppy for both teams and the ball was on the ground for a good portion of the first. Capo Attackman Blake Berk finally put the Cougars on the scoreboard in the middle of the first slipping one past Aliso Goalie Firas Abdeen. Michael Traub put up a goal for the Wolverines in the first as well.

The referees were letting them play and did not call a penalty on either team until midway through the second quarter. The Cougars began to pull away in the second quarter. The Cougars went into the half with a 7-1 lead. The Cougars were well balanced in the scorebook with five different players scoring those seven goals in the half.

The Wolverines came out attacking early in the third. Midfielder Kevin Cracchiolo fed Nolan Werner for an easy goal to start the half. That would be the end of the scoring for the Wolverines. Capo destroyed Aliso on the ground balls and had possession for the majority of the second half. Cougar Midfielder Robbie Blethen fed Chad Hartman for two easy goals in the third and fourth.  The Wolverines got some shots off when they had the ball but Capo Goalie JT Stanley was solid and nothing was getting by him. Both coaches emptied the bench in the fourth to end the game with a score of 12-2.

Capo Valley (3-5, 3-1) will travel to Trabuco Hills on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.  Aliso Niguel (4-6, 1-2) will host the San Juan Hills Stallions on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.  The Aliso Niguel Lady Wolverines who are undefeated in league play will travel to San Juan Hills Tuesday.
