Local Athletes Make Their College Choices
Wednesday was the first day athletes from several sports could sign papers committing to a particular college, and the college must in turn provide a scholarship.
Led by 16 students at Santa Margarita Catholic, and 13 at Capistrano Valley, local high school students on Wednesday took to signing National Letters of Intent on the first day they could enter into a legally binding contract with a college that will provide an athletic scholarship.
The sports that can officially sign during the fall period are baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' golf, hockey, boys' and girls' lacrosse, softball, boys' and girls' swimming/diving, boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' volleyball, girls' water polo and wrestling.
