Military Appreciation Night at Sunday's Ducks Game

Nonperishable food items will be collected for Veterans First.

The Anaheim Ducks will conduct Military Appreciation Night at Sunday's game against Vancouver at Honda Center, paying tribute to area military members and their families and raising awareness for three military nonprofit organizations.

Nonperishable food items will be collected for Veterans First, an Orange County-based organization that provides services to the region's homeless and at-risk veterans. The Ducks are encouraging fans to bring canned and nonperishable food items to the community relations booth in the Hockey Spot on the south side of the arena in front of The Grand Terrace beginning at 3 p.m.

Ducks players will wear camouflage jerseys during pregame warmups. The jerseys will be autographed after the game and made available in an online auction at AnaheimDucks.com/auction.

Sgt. 1st Class Wade Scott will be honored in a pregame ceremony as a community hero. He served 11 years as a military police officer in the California Army National Guard and was deployed on tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
