Support Savannah's Organic Ranch, Fight Pediatric Cancer

Sponsors and players needed for the fifth annual SOR Golf Tournament.

Hawaii was the place the Sachen family went to spend peaceful time together. Though one of the family’s young members is gone, the islands still bring them closer to her.

This year Savannah’s Organic Ranch is bringing a Hawaiian celebration to their fifth annual Savannah’s Organic Ranch Golf Tournament. Preparations are underway for the event, which will be held at the Aliso Viejo Country Club on May 24.

Savannah’s Organic Ranch was created by Joe and Lisa Sachen in honor of their daughter, Savannah, who lost her battle with cancer in 2007. It was Savannah’s dream to open a ranch that would teach children and adults the importance of organic farming and healthy eating. She wanted the good food to make others feel better—the way it helped her while undergoing cancer treatments.

Joe Sachen, tournament co-chair and CEO of SOR said this might be the biggest tournament yet. Not only is it the fifth anniversary of the event, but it is the first year since the organization was approved for a 24-acre piece of land in Aliso Viejo where they can build Savannah’s ranch.

The goal of the ranch is to educate and involve children in the organic farming process—planting, harvesting, cooking and enjoying healthy meals. Money raised at the tournament will assist in the educational efforts of Savannah’s Organic Ranch as well as activities designed to assist children battling pediatric cancer. This includes the creation of Kids Cancer Care Carts—carts stocked with DVD players, movies and other activities to help bring a smile and ease the lives of children in the hospital.
