That is funny. Not something I try to seriously consider. I think that if parents knew other kids…Read More were pooping,..walking through pet urine - then sharing it with their kids,... They might change their own minds. But then,... I hear that was why they decided to spell pool with the "p" - because you can't have just an "ool" until you have a little "p" in it.

Aliso Viejo and its surrounding cities all made the 100 safest cities in America list that you can…Read More check out here:
http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/neighborhoods/crime-rates/top100safest/
This makes Aliso Viejo one of the safest places in the world - literally.
Aliso Watchdog May 20, 2013 at 11:06 pm
Aliso Viejo is one of the top 100 safest cities in the country, and a beautiful community. This…Read More incident is not representative of what happens here, except for the fact that the perpetrator was captured.

MIchael M, it was $16 million promised by Cave, and there was not agenda item. Just a campaign…Read More promise.

Am I crazy or did the Mayor commit the city to paying $6M to build a new Boys and Girls Club? I…Read More checked the agenda and saw nothing mentioned, so now it's time to wait for the minutes to be published.

"First of all it is a slam on our military."
Because they used "sailors"? Why,…Read More are there no sailors outside the military? Or is it a fact that those in the military do not cuss?
"Second, the assumption is made that all calls made from California locations are made by Californians"
As opposed to all calls made from Ohio locations are certainly made by Ohioans.
Rebecca Nogy May 21, 2013 at 06:50 am
Such a ridiculous and flawed report. First of all it is a slam on our military. Second, the…Read More assumption is made that all calls made from California locations are made by Californians. Shame on the Patch for perpetuating such nonsense!

AW: According to state law, the city must announce any public meeting 72 hours in advance.
Aliso Watchdog May 21, 2013 at 08:10 am
What is the update on this meeting? I plan to attend, and according to the City Attorney, the public…Read More is invited. When will the meeting be announced?

We love our gardener! We use Bryon Bollo from Vintage Lawn Maintenance (949) 916-0278. We pay $10 a…Read More week to edge and mow. I like that he follows my requests. My neighbors have asked their gardeners to not touch certain plants only to come home and find them pruned. I have a tree that I have asked Byron to hand trim around instead of using a weed wacker and he does. Our lawn looks great and the neighbors are constantly commenting on how nice the lawn looks.

Got to give Gov. Brown credit for recognizing that the surplus is a "one off" situation.…Read More I wouldn't be surprised if the planned budget will be smaller in FYI 14-15 than it is 13-14. The analysts that answered questions about why next year is anticipated to be lower were hilarious. Japan, workers working less hours, China, North Korea (seriously). It will be lower next year because companies and people were taking profits, accelerating dividend and cap gains and delaying deductions to avoid the 2013 FEDERAL tax increase. With his hands tied with Props 98/111 and needing to spend those funds on ED, CC does make some sense. I can't speak to the strategy and timing of how the the money is being spent. I would have preferred that districts been allowed to retire as much debt as possible to reduce cash flow to debt servicing, and increasing the amount of cash flow that could be spent on ED.

I am not aware that CTA must approve any curriculum implemented in CA. Please cite your source.…Read More
As for attacking teachers, please read your posts on just this one thread. Here's just one direct quote:
"I don't see anything so radical in it that would require our already (presumed) expert teachers to need a billion dollars worth of training."
As has been pointed out the billion dollars is targeted for EVERY part of implementation, not just teacher training. You really have trouble seeing past your dislike for teachers to see what this article is really saying. This is often the case.
Capo mom May 17, 2013 at 05:40 pm
fact checker, as you are certainly aware, CTA must approve any curriculum that is implemented in the…Read More state of California. That being said, there is no requirement that this be done using categorical funds. This was done to direct money as CTA desired. It offers no benefit students in CUSD.
LaAna, please be accurate. I don't attack teachers.

Well, the loans are there, they just aren't liar loans anymore. There's been a shift back to…Read More collateral-based lending and fundamental lending standards, e.g. the notion of a down payment requierement ("skin in the game") and "ability to pay rule" for borrowers. OMG What a novel concept! It's like Banking 101 for these jokers. I welcome it because I'm tired of using tax dollar to bail out HELOC abusers.
Realtors need to make commission-paying hay while the sun shines though in 2013. Prices are high now because of low supply. Fannie and Freddie are introducing new QRM rules (qualified residential mortage) in 2014.
Also coming our way in 2014:
1. Putting sacred cow on a diet - future reductions in Mortgage Interest Tax Deduction? $70 billion/yr. federal subsidy.
2. New Fed Chairman (Bernanke likely heading out the door).

The high home prices are in regional bubbles. Houses in Rossmoor are way up from 6-9 mouths ago.…Read More Average listing price now is 830,000 and 8 months ago it was 670,000. However, my friend's neighborhood home prices in Costa Mesa are dead flat and have gone up very little. A quick check of Zillow will show the real hot spots.
And it is still a buyers market since the economy is supposed to go weak in a few months killing sales and price growth. And not many homes are selling for over a million anymore. Everyone wants old stock homes they can knockdown. And everyone is using cash only, which means ONLY the rich are buying now. So it really does not matter about supply if you can't get a loan. Right Friedrich.

Peter, Love the changes. Nice job!
Poncho is such a cute dog. He is also one lucky dog. A dog lover…Read More saw him dart behind the barriers at the freeway construction site at Oso Parkway. She brought him right to the shelter and the staff and DAWG worked fast to get orthopedic surgery for this guy. He's sweet. Come meet him! More on dawg's facebook about him including a video. Go to Dedicated Animal Welfare Group. Thanks too to all those awesome donors who helped pay for his care. And Yes! The Dawg Walk & Pet Faire 6/22. It's a crazy fun dawg day to be sure.

"Poodles of fun"--ha! I might steal that for a headline sometime.

Better yet, attend the 19th Annual DAWG Walk & Pet Faire. A wonderful event that is put on by the City of Mission Viejo and DAWG. It's poodles of fun. You can register for the DAWG Walk & Pet Faire at DAWG's web site.

Dawn:
From what I can see of what you post, you lay the root of all problems at the foot of CUSD's…Read More door. I do not. Short of spoon feeding this information to voters, how do you propose CUSD "educate" the public??
As Shelly noted, this has been an issued discussed in CUSD for YEARS. In my first one-on-one meeting Jim Fleming (in 1992! before kids!!), he pointed out this disparity then and referred me to the PTA people who were taking the lead then in case I was interested in lending my voice. In my PTA days, the representatives in Sacramento always commented the large and vocal contingent that visited Sacramento from 4th district. As parents and voters, we were trying and CUSD supported our efforts.
At some point, voters must take some responsibility for their lack of knowledge and insight and quit pointing at others.

Dawn,
This issue has been discussed in our district for years!!!!! I remember writing postcards to…Read More Sacramento about this issue when my oldest son was in 1st grade! The budget discussions are open to the public. The board meeting agendas are open to the public. Is it always someone else's fault?
