Aliso Viejo's New Police Chief Starts Friday

Lt. John MacPherson will take over as chief of polices services for Aliso Viejo Friday. He will replace current chief Bob Osbourne, who will become Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens' executive aide, according to a city announcement.

MacPherson has spent 23 years with the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Most recently he's served as department commander.

This will be MacPherson's second time working in Aliso. From 2007 to 2010 he served as a patrol sergeant in Aliso and Laguna Hills.

From 2010-2012, MacPherson served as an administrative sergeant in Laguna Niguel. He has also worked in Mission Viejo and San Clemente.
