A caregiver suspected of elder sexual abuse was in custody Wedneday, and authorities urged other possible victims to contact them.
Robert Ligayo, 62, of Aliso Viejo was arrested Monday and booked on suspicion of elder abuse and sexual battery, said Gail Krause of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
“The 66-year-old female victim reported that her in-home caregiver, Ligayo, had been sexually abusing her for the past six months,” Krause said in a statement.
The woman resides in Laguna Woods, Krause said.
Ligayo has been a licensed elderly caregiver since 2001 and has worked for several caregiver companies in Orange County, Krause said.
