Aliso Viejo Middle School Needs $10.6 Mil in Upgrades, Architect Says

Overall, the Capistrano Unified School District is facing $822 million in repairs and renovations. Here's Aliso Viejo Middle School's share.

The Capistrano Unified School District's architects have found $10.6 million in needs at Aliso Viejo Middle School.

About $2.5 million of that figure would be used to replace half of the portable classrooms with permanent structures. A new gymnasium would be another major portion.

Another $1.2 million would address routine maintenance and repairs that have been put off in recent years, such as paint, floor covering, the phone and intercom systems.

The report was created in 2009 and has recently been updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.

For Aliso Viejo Middle, the updated total also includes $810,000 for upgraded technology for students.
