Openings Finally Available at OC Piano Studio

Renowned piano teacher Viktoriya Tolmacheva specializes in teaching classical piano to the community's children and adults.

A highly booked piano studio, OC Piano Studio, has announced that it finally has new open spots for music lessons because a few students have graduated and are leaving for college, just in time for the last half of summer.

The studio, based in Aliso Viejo, is operated by Viktoriya Tolmacheva, who specializes in teaching classical piano and music theory for both children and adults.

Tolmacheva combines a classical method to a modern approach. A classical method of learning is important in knowing the basics of piano, but she also uses the modern approach in letting her students pick popular songs from contemporary composers, music  artists, and soundtracks from movies. That way, students will be more excited to learn and practice the piano.

OC Piano Studio also has an annual piano recital that is held during the winter holidays for their students to showcase their talent.

Aside from giving her students the fundamentals they need, Tolmacheva is part of the MTAC’s Certificate of Merit. The Certificate of Merit (CM) is an evaluation program that was created and developed by the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) in 1934 and is based on a solid foundation of systematic progression through the levels.

Students in CM are evaluated on their technique, ear training, sight reading and performance skills. There is also a written theory test at each level.  Tolmacheva’s students take this test every year, ranging from primary level through the advanced level!

The goals of Certificate of Merit are:
- To provide a systematic and comprehensive plan to develop performance skill, technique, ear training and sight reading skills, and understanding of music theory;
- To provide practical goals to help students maintain a steady and focused appreciation of their musical studies;
- To encourage students to strive for musical excellence;
- To create opportunities in which students may share their music with others.
