Connections Academy Kazoo Band Marches in Hollywood Christmas Parade

More than 100 Connections Academy students, parents and teachers from across California came together to march in this year’s Hollywood Christmas Parade. Eighth grade advisory teacher Heather Sherwood Littlejohn led the Connections Academy “Kazoo Band” down Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards on Sunday, Dec. 1, to spread holiday cheer. Connections Academy is a tuition-free, high-quality, highly accountable virtual public school serving students in grades K-12.

Traveling from as far as Santa Clara county, Bakersfield and San Diego, 38 families came together to meet their fellow classmates in-person, celebrate the season and  perform holiday songs on kazoos as they marched in the 82nd Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade. Families supported their students by helping orchestrate kazoo practice and distributing Santa Claus hats; and one grandfather even participated as a banner holder in the parade.

Connections Academy has three schools in California, serving students from 18 counties across the state. Though each school has frequent socialization events throughout the year to bring local students and families together, this parade was the first time that all three schools came together to participate in a large community event that will be televised worldwide on select stations and dates throughout December. Please visit their website for a list of showings.
