Friday, Dec. 14

• The Ice Kingdom at Chill in Long Beach has taken winter to extremes by using 2 million pounds of ice to turn the Queen Mary Dome into an igloo. It’s cold enough that each visitor will be provided with a parka. Massive ice carvings were created by Chinese artisans, some of whom have participated in the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. There’s also an ice slide, ice cave, Santa's Toyland, a Fairytale Castle, a Nativity scene, interfaith Ice Grotto and, of course, an outdoor ice rink. Saturday, Dec. 15

• Decorated homes and boats are spotlighted during the Huntington Harbour Cruise of Lights, which runs nightly through Dec. 23. Several tours are offered each evening. • The Metrolink Holiday Toy Express, which delivers entertainment while collecting toys for needy children, makes stops Saturday, Dec. 15, in Irvine (5 p.m.), Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo (5:45 p.m.), San Juan Capistrano (6:45 p.m.), and Tustin (7:45 p.m.). Please bring an unwrapped toy.

It starts off Bay Island at 6:30 p.m. and should finish at the same spot around 9 p.m. The parade runs nightly through Dec. 23.
