Exciting things are in the works for our Autumn Music Festival. We have three great groups coming to entertain us. Barbara and the Musical Spirit will start off the show with great songs from Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, Simon and Garfunkel, Adele and more.
Barbara was Born and raised in Coventry Rhode Island, Barbara grew up surrounded by music. At the age of 7, she was crowned Little Miss Rhode Island and began singing in the church choir. At 13 years, Barbara took first place on the Boston Music Television Show, Community Auditions. This afforded her many television and radio spots that included singing jingles at local radio stations in Providence and Boston. Barbara migrated to California in 1987 and continues to perform as both a soloist and lead singer throughout Southern California.
The second group, Amethyst Sky, has been performing and recording together for the past 10 years throughout Southern California beach communities. Their song list includes pop rock, contemporary and easy listening music. They are currently playing in Laguna Beach, Dana Point and Corona Del Mar at various venues. Mark Maestas is the main guitar player, so you might remember his name. He is really great.
Einstein, who you can check out on the Mark Wood Entertainment website, does steel pan calypso music. He wrote the song "Don't Worry, Be Happy". It is still a hit among calypso music.
If you want to know what it sounds like when Reggae, calypso, jazz and funk collide and intertwine with the feeling of a getaway in Trinidad, then Einstein is a must! His music is a Caribbean fusion explosion. It's unique, upbeat and energetic. Many try to imitate his sound, but Einstein has made it his own unique art form.
Einstein has appeared in numerous television shows, commercials and feature films, as well as MTV music videos, including one in which he performed with the great R&B singer, Chaka Khan. Einstein has also performed for entertainment legends such as Debbie Reynolds, Carol Burnett and Michael Jackson. And now he has generously agreed to perform for Laguna Woods Village.
