City Manager Says So Long, Aliso Viejo

At the end of the July, Aliso Viejo's city manager since 2005 will leave for a new position with Yorba Linda.

This week Aliso Viejo Patch will be running portions of a recent interview with Mark Pulone, wherein he reflected on his first city manager position in the city.

In this installment, Pulone describes what he sees as his biggest accomplishments as city manager.

"I've been proud of the completion of the Aquatic Center and conference center. I think both of those are tremendous assets to the community.

"I think the city's efforts to oppose the mail distribution plant that the United States postal department was proposing was a huge victory for the community. That would have had real serious negative impacts on the city. I'm proud of the fact that we as a city were able to successfully fight that.

"Given the time that I was here and the downturn in the economy, I'm real proud of the fact that we've maintained every year a balanced budget, and we've never had to reduce service levels or introduce furloughs or anything of that nature. we've been able to stand very strong financially, despite some difficult years."

Check back later this week for more from outgoing City Manager Mark Pulone.
