This
Saturday, the South Coast Roller Derby (SCRD) girls will be lacing up their
skates in honor of blood cancer patients and their families worldwide. For
their March 29th bout, they’ve teamed up with the Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society (LLS) with one goal in mind: help raise money to find a cure
for blood cancer. All
money raised by SCRD will be donated directly to LLS, whose continued
advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival
rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even
quadrupled. Many LLS supported therapies are also being used to treat
patients with other diseases, including diabetes, arthritis and MS.
Saturday’s bout, featuring the SCRD Killer
Danas vs. Coast Highway Catrinas, will be held at the Laguna Hills Sports Complex, located at
2555 Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., whistle blows at
7:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for military and pre-sale and $12 at the door.
This event is free for children 6 and under.
