Driver Spots Kid Playing Hooky
The following is a selection of calls from Aliso Viejo to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 7 to June 9.
A driver told sheriff dispatch that they saw a 9-year-old boy with short borwn hair who was running near the intersection of Aliso Creek Road and Alicia Parkway, away from Wood Canyon Elementary.
The call was made around 8:55 a.m., Wednesday.

Suspicious person/circumstances. 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. 100 block of Mayfair. A caller said a man in his 50s with a gray beard, driving a white van, was telling women that he works for the water company and was staring at the caller’s daughter.
Welfare check. 6:32 p.m. Wednesday. 0 block of Golden Eagle Court. A resident said a neighbor’s sprinkler has been on for two days, causing flooding by the front door of the home.
Suspicious person/circumstances. 2:57 p.m. Wednesday. 26800 block of Aliso Viejo Parkway. A caller said a man white a beard and wavy blonde hair, wearing a green shirt and beige shorts was trying to open car doors.
Suspicious person/circumstances. 9:52 p.m. Tuesday. 100 block of Birchwood Lane. A resident said they could smell a strong odor, possibly from marijuana coming from a neighbor’s home.
Annoying phone call. 5:02 p.m. Tuesday. 0 block of Cinnamon Teal. A caller asked sheriff deputies for assistance after her roommate sent her more than 40 harassing text messages.
Suspicious person/circumstances. 12:17 p.m. Tuesday. Wood Canyon Drive and Aliso Creek Road. A caller asked sheriff deputies to check for a man in his mid 30s, who was wearing a black cap, no shirt and orange board shorts who appeared to be walking aimlessly near a school.
