Deadline Friday for City Council Nomination Papers

Two council seats are up for grabs in the Aliso Viejo City Council. But to get there you must file all the necessary paperwork by the end of this week.

The deadline for filing nomination papers for the November election of the Aliso Viejo City Council is five days away.

Nominations must be submitted by Friday. August 10, 4:30 p.m., to City Hall. The City Clerk's office is located at 12 Journey, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656, and is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and alternating Friday’s, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. City Hall will be open this Friday.

Three seats will be up for grabs for the Nov. 6 election. They are held by Mayor Donald A. Garcia, Mayor Pro-Tem William "Bill" Phillips and Council Member Greg Ficke. All three have picked up nomination papers.

The other three residents who have pulled papers are Mike Munzing, a mortgage broker; Greg Gantman, a former city commissioner; and Ross Chun, a former planning commissioner.

All forms required for nomination and election to municipal office are furnished by and filed with the city clerk’s office.
