Aliso Lacrosse Can’t Slow Beckman

Aliso Niguel Men’s Lacrosse wrapped up a three game week with a 12-8 loss to the Beckman Patriots at Wolverine Stadium Friday night. 

The Wolverines (3-3) got behind fast allowing five unanswered goals to the Patriots to go down 5-0 in the middle of the first quarter.  After a timeout by Coach Pat Jenkins, a frustrated Aliso team bounced back scoring three goals of their own to narrow the Patriots lead 5-3 at the end of the first quarter. 

Beckman midfielder Luke Baker was all over the Wolverines in the first half.  He beat Ryan Wing and Ryan Dale on many faceoffs, had five groundballs and three goals in the first half alone.  This boosted the Patriot lead to 8-3 at halftime.

The Wolverines came out aggressive in the third quarter with goals from Michael Traub, Chris Carmody, and Ryan Dale.  They also mentioned to draw some penalties from Beckman players and the Patriots went into the fourth quarter up 10-6 with two men in the penalty box.  The Wolverines showed promise early in the fourth with Ryan Dale rolling a goal in some good defense.  Turner Westlake made a deep pass to Nolan Werner who scored to fire up the crowd and narrow the lead down to two. That was the only scoring Aliso had in the fourth. Beckman controlled the ball and tacked on two more goals to wrap up a 12-8 win.  Connor Thorton and Nick Liekhus both had three goals for Beckman and Luke Baker had four.

The Beckman Patriots (5-1) hope to continue their five game winning-streak against The Woodbridge Warriors, Monday at Beckman High.  Aliso opens up league play Tuesday at Trabuco Hills High School at 5:30 p.m.  The Aliso Lady Wolverines played Redondo Union at Laguna Hills High School Saturday at 11 a.m.  You can catch Aliso Men’s Lacrosse games live and on replay as well as other Aliso Niguel sporting events courtesy of Kaard Bombe at livestream.com/ansn.
